On August 14 2023, officials announced that former Carroll High School assistant football coach, Drouzon Quillen, was sentenced to 45 days at the Franklin Parish Detention Center for his involvement in a fight that took place during one of there games in 2022. According to Ouachita Citizen, Quillen was sentenced in the Fifth Judicial Court by Judge Clay Hamilton.
Sheriff cobb stated that the issued began when several complaints were received about Carroll coaches using profanity in the press box during the game. In the 4th quarter, Officer Cobb was called over to address the issue. While he tried to escort them back to the sidelines, the coaches continued to use inappropriate language. He said that one of the coaches made physical contact with him as he attempted to get them to leave.
Based on previous reports, Quillen was found guilty of Battery on a Police Officer on Thursday, August 3, 2023. There was also head coach, Brandon Landers and assistant coach, Zemtress Randle, who were found guilty in the incident.
Monroe city schools said they planned to appeal the ruling. Opening with, "Again, we are sadly disappointed in the actions that took place during the game at Franklin Parish last Thursday night," says Monroe City Schools superintendent, Dr. Brent Vidrine.
Head coach Brandon Landers bonded out on a $6,000 bond and the assistant coaches bonded out on a $5,000 bond each.
