The Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court is open Monday - Friday, except legal holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The services provided to the general public are divided between different departments. Different departments throughout our office's process a wide range of information. They have competent and knowledgeable people to assist you in finding the right information as well as the ability to electronically process legal documentation. They go about it this way to assure that you are served with personal service and in a professional manner.
On their website, there is a listing of each department within the Clerk of Court office. For your benefit, you will find a description of what that department handles on a daily basis. All fees for any particular transaction or recording will be located o the fee page.
The Clerk of Court cannot respond to specific or general legal questions or issues. They can only respond to specific questions about the Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court.
The Accounting Department handles everyday transactions of funds received for everything files as well as fees charged for court proceedings.
The Civil Department is responsible for the filling of all Civil Suits, Probates, and all matters relating thereto. They file all pleadings, documents, and exhibits and endorses thereon the fact and date of filing.
The Criminal Department files all formal charges from the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office in the Ouachita Parish of Louisiana. They send notice of judgment of bond forfeiture to the defendants and bondsman in each case.
The Juvenile Department is responsible for the filing all Juvenile Delinquent and child in need of care charges. All Juvenile filings are confidential records. Therefore, anyone wishing to view any proceedings involving a juvenile must obtain a valid court order.
